Volunteer Today!
"Any road will do if you don't know where you're going."
. Children live in a wide variety of circumstances.
. Single parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, and incarcerated parents are on the rise in Defiance County.
. Children depend on peers to provide insight and guidance to problems.
. The lists goes on and on.
Children want to succeed. By volunteering you will help a child to make better choices for himself or herself. Mentors give these children the tools and knowledge needed to open a world of possibilities. Mentors help children to succeed.
If you're a caring adult who enjoys children, please don't wait... call me today and say "Yes, I want to mentor a child."

Mentors give one hour a week during the school day and year to work with a child to help teach positive problem solving skills, to develop goals, and to raise self esteem.
All volunteers receive 4 hours of training, and parents give permission for their child to participate in the program.
The benefit of this one-on-one relationship is felt by everyone involved. Mentors achieve a sense of accomplishment by working with a child; mentees get the benefit of having an adult who will listen to them without judging; schools receive better student behavior, less absenteeism and better grades; parents often also see a difference in their child; and, society in general receive more members who give back to the community.
EVERYONE WINS!
